As much as we do love the changing of the seasons, one thing we don’t love is boring hat hair. Your hat doesn’t just keep you warm; it’s also a must-needed hair accessory. We think our beloved hats should be worn with gorgeous hairstyles to complement your fashion-forward winter self. Read on to see how to style your hair with your winter hats:

1. Long Braid

Need a way to not get your hair messed up from your winter hats? Look no further than braids! A full, proper three-strand braid definitely keeps hat hair at bay. We love doing braided styles on short hair and extra long hair too. Follow our tutorial for the perfect French braid and even make your braid more festive by using a glam hair tie.

2. Loosely Curled

We love the look of curls effortlessly rolling out from under our favorite winter hats. You can get these gorgeous loose curls in two different ways. One of our favorite ways to get loose curls is by using hot rollers. For all you fans of this ’70s-inspired look, we have a tutorial you can follow for using hot rollers.  You can also recreate this style using day-old curls. You get two styles by just curling your hair once! All you need to do is take a teasing comb and lightly backcomb your curls to create more volume.

3. Straight and Textured

This is another hairstyle you can totally flex on second-day hair. Add some texture to your straightened hair by spraying in a little bit of sea salt spray. But instead of scrunching like you would normally, just let it air-dry. It will give your hair a piecey, on-trend texture.

4. Big Curls

There is something so fun and fancy about wearing big curls with your favorite cap, whether you’re more of an indoor or outdoor winter person. You can snuggle up by the fireplace or head to a holiday market with big bouncy curls, knowing you’re looking fab. Keep in mind that the best, long-lasting curls are done with a regular curling iron and by allowing the curls to cool down in pin curls. This will keep your curls intact throughout icy temps.

5. Straight and Sleek

Winter weather can be tough on exposed hair. The freezing temps, wind and snow can do some major damage, even if you aren’t heat-styling your hair on the daily. One good way to add a layer of protection while taming frizz and adding shine is to use a serum. Before you blow-dry, add a few drops of Bed Head by TIGI Control Freak Serum to your damp hair. Blow-dry your hair straight and top off the look with a cute bobble hat.
